A Day In The Life...

I titled my audio project “A Day In the Life” to give a run through of an average, boring workday. The sounds I chose to use were snoring, brushing teeth, pouring water in glasses, car radio, keys, walking, typing on a keyboard, ice coffee rattling, phone buttons dialing, filling up water and people talking, and microwaving food. These are very average human actions noises. The way I arranged them was meant to sequence from waking up to going to bed, and in between those two times was going to work and doing tasks, eating, drinking, talking, and going back home. While my topic was very stale and boring, the effects I later added to the project created an entire new tone for the audience. Some of it was purposeful, some of it was me really just being new to Adobe Audition and not understanding how to end an echo effect… This may have (in an extremely irritating, bothersome way) improved the weirdness and intensified the listener’s experience. My goal with the effects was to take an average day and make it something else, into something completely different that brought on an anything but bored mood. The echo and pitch effects added in an extreme eeriness right off the bat. I wanted to give an experience for someone to think that they were going about their day, but quickly start to feel like they’re in a messed-up dream and had to second guess reality. Almost like a Twilight Zone feel.
