Humifying and Gooifying a Concrete World

“Humifying and Gooifying a Concrete World” is meant to make a statement about our rectilinear, hard-designed gray concrete surrounding environment and how organic forms and humanity should be more involved. I wanted to sort of play off of a goo-pocalypse, the day the goo took over, which symbolizes in a very surreal odd textured way how the natural environment will take back what we’ve made. I believe nature is very dominant over our human constructs. Natural disasters will always win over what we make and build. We have ruined so much of the natural environment that I think we need to slow down our destruction and work to get nature and greenery back in order, how it should be and once was. The eyeballs, mouths and hands are all human senses working to understand how much we’ve changed about the world around us and seeing the damage we’ve done. In some of them, goo is oozing out of buildings in attempts to bring in color and natural forms again. In others, buildings are humanized to show contrast of the lack of life that is currently present in our architecture. Not only did I create this with the environment in mind, but I also wanted to comment on how limited building design is and how boring our world looks. Although some of the architecture I chose to include is quite interesting and not so typical, a lot of buildings are so mundane. The world of design is our oyster, why don’t we throw some color and weirdness into it?
