Zines!

After looking at the zines in class today, there was one in particular that I liked and felt inspired by. There were photos of zoomed in scenes with little characters drawn playfully into the background- a guy surfing down a stream of beer for example. In my artist’s statement, I talked about how I really enjoy making art relating to the senses and imagination. A lot of my artwork incorporates mouths, eyeballs, faces and twists them with some color change or altered placement. I think for my zine, it would be fun to take existing photos of buildings and interiors like in my inspiration above, and add my own twist of imagination on it with patterns and pieces of my typical artwork. Adding a spin to everyday scenes to make them funky and something we don’t usually see would be something I haven’t quite done before while having fun with my “style”.
